I have learned how to evaluate the internet. Since now that anyone, anywhere can now become authors and their own publisher it is hard to tell real information from junk or the non truth. To find that out you would have to figure out the domain name to the web page. A domain name is an identification label that defines authority. They are hostnames that identify internet protocol.
I also learned about search engines. Search engines are tools for finding information on the internet such as google, dog pile, msn search, and yahoo search.
Gateways and virtual libraries are usually developed by subject specialists within the library profession. Similar to that are catalogs and directory services. The sites are submitted by their author or identified by the site developer which is assigned to the subject category. For example, Yahoo! Directory search.edu scirus, voice of the shuttle infomine, and www. Virtual library virtual ref shelf.
There are meta search engines that let you search multiple tools simultaneously. Some metasearch engines are I quick met search, dog pile, allplus, and surf wax.
